Ofsted Information 2024
Dear Parents & Carers,
It is with great pleasure that we can now inform you of the results of our recent Ofsted Inspection which took place on the 1st & 2nd of May 2024.
The inspectors that visited our School carried out their inspection over the two days, which included deep dives into various subjects, lesson visits, discussions with staff/pupils, meetings with school leaders, the governing body, scrutiny of work undertaken by children and reviews of school documentation. More of what inspectors looked at can be found within the official report.
The inspectors concluded that James Elliman Academy is GOOD in all areas (Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management and Early Years Provision), resulting in an Overall Effectiveness of GOOD for the School. In addition, I am delighted to report that the evidence gathered suggests that the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now. The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.
This an excellent achievement for the School and I am exceptionally proud of all Staff and Pupils for their efforts during this inspection, the time leading up to the inspection, and the ongoing performance of the School.

It is worth recognising that the report is incredibly positive, and I am very proud of all the staff and children at James Elliman Academy. The feedback to the inspectors from parents/carers during the inspection was also fantastic and I would like to thank you for your continued support.
A few highlights from the report can be found below:
"Pupils are happy, confident and articulate at this positive and welcoming school".
"The school is highly ambitious for pupils to succeed. It has the highest academic expectations".
"Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary, both during lessons and at playtimes. They have trusting relationships with each other and with staff. Pupils say they feel safe, valued and cared for at school".
"Teachers use their strong subject knowledge to deliver consistently effective lessons. Teachers address any pupil misconceptions quickly. Staff routinely check that pupils know, remember and understand important content before moving on in learning".
"Careful and bespoke adaptions are made to the curriculum when needed. As a result, pupils learn superbly across the curriculum, including those who are disadvantaged. Pupils achieve particularly highly in key stage 1 and 2 assessments".
